A major electrification skills event is going on the road this year and will be held at the Advanced Engineering Show at the end of October (30th and 31st).

The second annual ERS Hub Conference is looking to build on the momentum of the sector by taking one of the biggest arenas at the high-profile industry exhibition and is currently finalising a two-day calendar of speeches, workshops and networking opportunities that will really get underneath the skin of the current skills landscape.

Delegates attending the first day will benefit from a keynote address from British racing driver Charlie Martin on her career to date and then a special insights session where experts will explore the UK electrification skills gap and what is being done to bridge the divide.

Deepak Farmah, Director of the ERS Hub, said: “I’m pleased to say we’ll be able to highlight some interesting new initiatives and areas where we are making a real difference to everyone involved in this rapidly growing sector.

“There should be something for everyone at our Annual Conference, whether you are a training provider, an education specialist, an existing worker switching careers, a learner looking to start their working life or, and arguably most importantly, the companies who need to flood their innovative activities with people.”

Other highlights across the two days will be a special talk on ‘Recruiting for PEMD roles’, an insight into the ‘Electrification Capabilities of Ricardo’ and an Electrification Skills Programme workshop where people will be able to experience first-hand some of the training available.

There will also be a technology showcase on the second day that will cover the latest developments in battery cell prototyping, battery testing and diagnostics, fuel cells and hydrogen applications and electrical machines and drive.

Deepak went on to add: “There is some real momentum in our space and we’re hoping that we can maximise the additional audience of the Advanced Engineering Show to demonstrate the massive potential there is in our industry, an industry that the UK is perfectly placed to lead the world in if we can get the skills picture right.

“If you are part of our community or just taking your first steps in this field, please join us and network with key companies, trainers, universities and specialists in electrification ecosystem.”
