Hampshire’s Hybrid Legal grows to team of 20
Business law specialist Hybrid Legal, founded 11 years ago in Southampton by then 23-year-old law graduate Ryan Lisk, has welcomed two new hires to bring its headcount to 20.
The business has also achieved significant turnover growth in the last 12 months.
Mike Duggan joins as the firm’s head of corporate, having advised more than 1,000 companies and organisations to date.
Prior to Hybrid Legal, Mike was a senior partner at City firm Addleshaw Goddard, advising boards and business owners on M&A, reorganisations, commercial contracts, governance and strategic projects.
Also new to the firm is Kay Yung, who was previously a senior consultant solicitor. The promotion brings the University of Southampton law graduate in house.
Ryan, who runs Hybrid Legal with directors Leanne Consiglio and Alan Reid, said: “The appointments of Mike and Kay are part of Hybrid Legal’s strategic growth strategy.
“We continue to disrupt the legal services market with our fixed-fee pricing and subscription model – clients know exactly what they’ll be paying, without any surprises.
“On the revenue side, we’ve recorded year-on-year growth over the past five years of between 35 and 40 per cent.
“A key part of income is from our Legal Plus subscription service, which provides subscribers paying a set monthly fee with on-demand legal support and a dedicated client partner.
“We continue to challenge the traditional law firm business model, with responsive legal expertise presented in plain English and at a clear, transparent price.
“There are parallels in what we do to the challenger banks increasing their market share from the traditional high street banks – upending norms.”
Legal advice sector specialities at Hybrid Legal include creative and digital agencies, media, PR, e-commerce, retail, leisure, recruitment, manufacturing and engineering.
Ryan added: “We continue to see a significant rise in work from the UK’s creative industries sector, which employs 2.3 million people, following referrals.
“We support creative agency owners with legal advice to ensure timely payments from their clients and prevent costly, and potentially ruinous, project scope creep.”
Hybrid Legal has also sponsored the training kits for 700 footballers at Farnham Town FC, a community club in Surrey fielding 30-plus teams, in a two-year deal.
