Construction school AccXel and Gloucestershire Engineering Training to redevelop Cinderford site

Gloucestershire-based construction school, AccXel, has joined forces with Gloucestershire Engineering Training (GET) to create more career starting opportunities in the local area.

The training providers are working together to redevelop an abandoned building that is situated next to AccXel’s campus in Cinderford.

The lot has remained vacant since the sudden closure of the nursery school, Happy Turtles, in March 2020. AccXel and GET intend on transforming the space into a practical skills training area for engineering and construction apprentices.

AccXel’s Directors – Nicola Bird and Natalie KingAccXel’s Managing Director, Nicola Bird has said “We’re over the moon to be working with Gloucestershire Engineering Training on this exciting new project. We can't wait to give the abandoned facility a new lease of life and expand our apprenticeship offering to help more people start promising careers in both the engineering and construction sectors.”

Regeneration of the former nursery will be commencing shortly and has an expected completion date of later in 2023. Once completed, the space will allow over 100 additional people the opportunity to start careers engineering and trades apprentices.

Warren Thomas the CEO of Gloucestershire Engineering Training has said “We are really looking forward to working with the team at AccXel and supporting each other as independent training providers. Engineering and construction have a long history in the Forest of Dean, and we are delighted to be able to give people from the area this fantastic opportunity.”

and GET are both recruiting for their apprenticeship programmes starting in September 2023.
