ABE Ledbury boss raises more than £4.5k for charity
Following our report last month (October), it has now been announced that the managing director of ABE Ledbury has raised £4,635 to provide better transport in Africa.
Clive Brooks was one of a group of transport industry leaders who, together, raised more than £230,000 taking part in Cycle Malawi, a five-day cycle ride through the African country in temperatures above 30°C.
Traversing the south of the country, participants made their way from Senga to Mulanje, encountering unique wildlife and scenic beauty including Lake Malawi, Mount Mulanje, Liwonde National Park and the Zomba Plateau.

Clive said “Malawi is one of the poorest countries in Africa and faces many challenges, including poor infrastructure, low farming yield, high unemployment, fuel shortages and power shortages.
“Despite these challenges everyone we met on our journey were (sic) friendly and welcoming. A remarkable country.”
The event is run by Transaid, a non-profit organisation which works in 23 countries (including Malawi) to improve transport infrastructure through initiatives such as professional driver and maintenance training, which improves rural connections and transport management.
Along with this, it works to improve road safety and healthcare access for drivers and other transportation professionals.
