The first site of an indoor cricket training venue is poised to open in Surrey later this year, it was reported, with plans to open a further five locations across the UK by the end of 2025.

The venue in East Molesey, Surrey will be the first from training provider HITZ Cricket and will offer a new type of cricket training facility.

The sites will reportedly use a monthly subscription model, offering a weekly one-hour training slot for £10 per week. HITZ wants to offer cricketers of all skills the flexibility to practice and play indoors.

Dominic Reed, a former executive at Powerleague who is now CEO at HITZ Cricket, reportedly said: "We have ambitious plans to locate our market-leading proposition in hundreds of sites across the UK and further afield. We look forward to seeing the cricket industry adopt this new way to play."

HITZ Cricket will use Nottingham-based BatFast’s SmartPlay technology.

Each session can be personalised and users can control the nature of the session, including selecting different types of bowling.

Players will be able to review their performance through both video playback and detailed statistical analysis.

Runish Gudhka, CEO of BatFast, was quoted as saying: "HITZ Cricket is set to revolutionise the way cricket is played by introducing our groundbreaking SmartPlay technology.

"Our collective goal is to make high-quality cricket facilities accessible to everyone, addressing the well-documented issues of limited facilities and high costs associated with playing cricket.

"With HITZ, we’re creating a first-of-a-kind model that will provide the best value for time and money that cricketers from all ages, skill levels, and genders will get. We are confident this innovation will attract both investors and industry leaders eager to be part of the future of cricket."
