Free training available for the Solent's aspiring marine electricians
A free training programme is being made available to people with electrical or engineering backgrounds so they can break into the Solent’s thriving maritime industry.
Solent Partners, which is offering the scheme, said the 'Marine Electrician Skills Bootcamp' was being delivered by British Maritime Training and Assessment (BMTA) and offers a path to a career as a marine electrician.

It involves face-to-face and online learning, support with CV writing, interview techniques, and on completion, guarantees an interview with local employers.
The programme has been devised with some of the region's most successful maritime organisations, including Berthon, Sunseeker, Griffon Hoverwork, Wight Shipyard, Oyster Yachts and SEC Marine.

The Solent Growth Partnership is made up of three upper tier local authorities responsible for economic development and skills - the Isle of Wight Council and Portsmouth and Southampton city councils.
Its business board brings together representatives from local government, education, and business to support the partnership promote the region's economic prosperity.
