Portsmouth firm's invention poised to revolutionise most unpleasant household chore
Portsmouth hygiene product firm Pure Hold Ltd is hoping its latest invention is certainly not a "flash in the pan".
Its new StepFresh product is set to revolutionise one of the most unpleasant cleaning tasks in the bathroom - a toilet cleaner, which dispenses 360 degrees around the bowl with just the tap of a foot - banishing the use of a brush for good.

Pure Hold MD and StepFresh's inventor Matt Roberts said: "It’s a product that makes the entire process effortless and efficient for everyone, from young children to the elderly or individuals with arthritis. I believe this product will transform the way people approach toilet cleaning, improving hygiene standards and saving time.
"Toilet brushes are disgusting and are one of the dirtiest items in a house, especially because most people never clean them.
"They frequently drip contaminated water on the bathroom floor, and despite lots of novel designs, they are still fundamentally flawed when it comes to hygiene. People are often in a rush or distracted by their phone and many people in a household don’t even look at the brush, let alone use it.
"That’s why I came up with StepFresh. It is hands-free, foot operated and simple and quick to use, which is what makes people want to use it because they don’t mind spending a few seconds stepping on it to help clean the toilet clean.
"It’s also highly effective, removing stains, limescale and ‘skid’ marks from the toilet bowl without anyone needing to pick up a toilet brush again."
The Portsmouth company already has a strong track record in designing and bringing to market different hygiene products.
Its Purehold PRO is a Government-funded, hygienic door handle that automatically dispenses sanitising gel onto the user’s hand as they open the door and is used in food processing plants and hospitals. The company already works with Morrisons, the NHS, and Unilver with that product.
Roberts brought that experience and expertise when he started work on StepFresh
The company said StepFresh was not only user-friendly but also environmentally conscious - allowing a user to dilute traditional toilet cleaners and bleaches with water while still achieving sparkling results.
StepFresh is currently available on Amazon or direct from Purehold. Longer term, the firm said it will seek a retail or distributor partner to help bring it to more homes across the UK and internationally.
