Aussie footwear brand R.M.Williams sets up shop in Marlow
R.M.Williams, an Australian-founded footwear, apparel and accessories business, has opened its first UK shop since 2017 in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.
Located at 46 High Street, the 1,700 sq ft Marlow store will replicate a new retail design concept which debuted at the brand’s flagship store in Sydney last December.
It’s set to stock new season boots, apparel and accessories, as well as some marine blue Chelsea boots exclusive to Marlow.
Among the businesses which helped furnish the outlet were Stroud-based handmade furniture and cabinet supplier TIMBERWOOLF; Hampshire furniture maker Morgan Furniture; joinery supplier Eclipse Manufacturing Solutions; and Rushmatters, which created the window plinths and in-store risers.
A second store will launch in Cambridge this December, joining existing stores in London’s New Bond Street and Berwick Street, Soho.
CEO Paul Grosmann said: “The UK has been part of the R.M.Williams story for many decades, and we’re thrilled that our next chapter of UK investment is spearheaded by the impressive new Marlow opening.
“Marlow’s heritage and character makes the town an ideal setting for introducing the brand’s handcrafted products to a community which appreciates quality authenticity.”
The property at 46 High Street was purchased last year by Beaconsfield-based Sorbon Estates in a dilapidated state and renovated ready for the new tenant.
Katherine Croom, managing director at Sorbon Estates, added: “This iconic Australian brand brings its rich heritage and high-quality craftsmanship to our vibrant town, and we’re proud to be part of their journey.
“Congratulations to RM Williams on their successful opening. This is an exciting milestone, and we can’t wait to see how they thrive in their new home.”
